Hi Stu, I am a Lancashire expat, living on the Prairies in Canada, and have just finished listening to all your podcasts to date, so am feeling a bit lost. Love hearing all the northern sayings and accent, and being familiar with a lot of the places mentioned. I especially love the compassion you have for the victims and families, and how you never seem to be desensitized to the inhumanity of it all. I was wondering if you knew anything about a murder that happened in The Swinton area of what is now Greater Manchester, back on March 11th, 1966, not too far from where I lived and very close to my music teachers house. I remember her saying, I’m glad the murderer turned that way and not this that evening, as she had a daughter the same age as the young girl murdered and I was a few years older. The girl was Juliet Callaghan age 12, and the Murder was Gordon Joseph Wheeler who was convicted of Manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. That is all I can find out, not much on the web about it, that was in the national Archives. Keep up the excellent work. Don’t know how you keep it all together. I am now off to try to find where I can buy you a coffee ☕️, not too tech savvy.
